Ingredients

  • 1. ½ cup urad dal 2. 1 to 1.5 tbsp rice flour 3. ½ tsp crushed black pepper 4. ½ inch ginger
  • finely chopped 5. 1 green chili
  • chopped 6. 2.5 to 3 tbsp chopped coconut 7. 8-10 curry leaves/kadi patta
  • chopped 8. a pinch of asafoetida/hing 9. salt as required 10. water as required for soaking and grinding urad dal 11. oil for shallow or deep frying the vadas for the chutney 1. ¼ cup grated coconut
  • fresh or frozen 2. 1 tbsp roasted chana dal 3. 1 or 2 green chilies
  • chopped 4. 8-10 curry leaves fried in 1 or 2 tsp oil 5. water as required
